Benefits for Better Mental Health Volunteer

Want to support people navigating the benefits system in a practical, positive way?

Benefits for Better Mental Health (BBMH) Volunteers carry out basic eligibility checks to help people to understand and access the right benefits for them.

You will be:

No prior experience of the benefits system is required, but you will need to be an empathetic, calm and organised.

Time commitment: 1 half day shift per week, during office hours.

Location: Osney Mead, Oxford, with some options for remote volunteering once experienced. Reasonable travel expenses reimbursed.

Skills needed: You will need to be empathetic, calm and organised.No prior knowledge of benefits is needed – you will be fully trained and following a guided process.

Training and support: One day Induction training, plus one day Benefits for Better Mental Health Volunteer training. Shadowing once in role. Ongoing support and supervision is provided.

Application process: Application form, informal interview, two references and an Enhanced DBS check are required.
