Please note that this volunteer role is currently on hold, and we are not sure when we will next be able to bring on new volunteers. Why not check out our other volunteer roles in the meantime?

“In this brief journey with the client just one’s presence may be needed to alleviate some of the stress… A couple of clients have stated that ‘I wouldn’t have been able to go through it without you’. This gives me a sense of satisfaction that I have helped someone in some way.”

Oxfordshire Mind BBMH Volunteer

Benefits Assessment Buddy Volunteer

Our Benefits Assessment Buddy Volunteers support people one-to-one prior to and during benefits assessments. You don’t need to have any specialist benefits knowledge, just a listening ear and the desire to support someone at a difficult time.

Training required: Oxfordshire Mind Induction Training one day course, plus one-day specialist BBMH training.

Time commitment: There’s no regular time commitment for this volunteer role, but it does require you to occasionally be available at short notice during office hours. Each session will last 2-3 hours and takes place during the week. You can sign up to sessions as and when you are able to attend.
