This Mental Health Awareness Week (12–19 May), we’re shining a light on the power of community – the connections, conversations, and care that help us feel seen, supported, and strong.

At Oxfordshire Mind, we believe that mental health is everyone’s business. Whether you’re a teacher, team leader, student, volunteer, or simply someone who cares, you are part of a community that can make a difference.

That’s why we’ve created a range of free, accessible resources for schools, workplaces, and local groups across Oxfordshire. From conversation starter bingo cards to event toolkits and wellbeing posters, our aim is to help you spark meaningful moments and create spaces where people feel they belong.

Together, we can build a more connected, compassionate Oxfordshire – one conversation at a time.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week (12–19 May 2025), Oxfordshire Mind has created a simple five-day toolkit to help staff connect, reflect, and build a stronger sense of community at work. With daily prompts like taking a wellbeing break, making a team pledge, or celebrating our Mental Health Champions, the toolkit encourages small actions that support a culture of kindness and inclusion. However you get involved, every step helps show that mental health matters — not just this week, but all year round.

Conversation Activities

Conversation Starters

These conversation starters are a simple, engaging way to encourage meaningful dialogue about mental health and wellbeing in your workplace or community group. Whether used during a team meeting, coffee break, or wellbeing event, they offer a mix of reflective and light-hearted prompts — from “What helps your mental health?” to “What’s your dream holiday destination?” Designed to spark connection, build trust, and create space for open conversations, they’re a great way to reduce stigma and promote a mentally healthy environment for everyone.

Conversation Bingo

This light-hearted bingo card is a fun way to spark everyday conversations and boost connection in your team or group. With simple questions like “What makes you laugh?” and “What’s something you’re looking forward to?”, it’s perfect for meetings, staff rooms, wellbeing events, or socials — helping everyone feel seen, heard, and included.

Community Conversation Bingo

This bingo-style activity is a great way to start conversations about community — whether in the office, a local group, or at an event. With questions like “What do you like about Oxford?” and “What could you contribute to your community?”, it encourages people to reflect, share, and connect over what makes communities strong, supportive, and inclusive.

Schools

Lesson

This 45–60 minute lesson for Key Stage 3 and 4 students, developed by Oxfordshire Mind for Mental Health Awareness Week (13–18 May 2025), explores the message that mental health is everything, everywhere, everyone. Students learn how mental health affects – and is affected by – daily life, including relationships, sleep, school, and world events. Through interactive activities, character case studies and conversation starters, the session encourages reflection, reduces stigma, and helps students recognise when and how to access support. The lesson also aligns with the PSHE and Health Education curriculum, helping schools promote positive mental wellbeing.

Assembly

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week (13–18 May 2025), Oxfordshire Mind has created a school assembly for Key Stage 3 and 4 students, exploring the theme “Mental health is everything, everywhere, everyone.” This 20-minute session helps students understand how mental health affects all aspects of life—from relationships and sleep to school and self-esteem—and encourages open conversations about how they’re feeling. The assembly also signposts young people to practical support and resources from Mind, empowering them to recognise when to ask for help and how to look after their mental wellbeing.

Oxfordshire Mind Playlist

To celebrate Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, we asked our community to share the songs that lift them up, calm them down, or simply make them smile — and the results are in! Our Spotify playlist brings together feel-good tracks, powerful anthems, and calming tunes, all chosen by the people who make up Oxfordshire Mind. Whether you need a boost, a breather, or something to sing along to, we hope this playlist brings a little joy to your day.

What else can you do?

Chalk the Walk 🎨
Grab some chalk and add a splash of colour to the pavement! Draw something that makes you smile, write a positive message, or leave a kind word for someone walking by. Whether it’s a doodle or a masterpiece, your creativity could brighten someone’s day. Let’s spread joy, one chalk drawing at a time.

Message in a Jar 📝
Take a moment to write a kind note, encouraging thought, or uplifting quote — then pop it in the jar! Whether you’re in the office, a classroom, or a community space, these messages are here for anyone who needs a little boost. Read one, write one, or both. A small act of kindness can go a long way.
