Bike week is a whole week dedicated to cycling, and this year, the focus is on how it can benefit your local community. Physical activity can help prevent mental health problems, reduce stress, and increase self-esteem.
There has been a lot of change to our daily habits in the last few years, and cycling has become more popular and rediscovered. More and more of us are taking to riding a bike as a hobby or transport method, which has benefitted our climate, health and community.
Join Oxfordshire Mind to celebrate cycling and take a look at some of our favourite bike-themed fundraising ideas:
1)tSponsored bike ride
You can see some fantastic scenery by bike, and the UK is full of routes that won’t disappoint.rnrnYou can take on a sponsored challenge such as cycling 100 miles, find some family-friendly Oxfordshire routes or set yourself the massive task of cycling to different countries like our corporate partners Finders Keepers and our fantastic fundraiser Iraj!
2)tBike Health check
If you’re part of a cycling club, then the likelihood is you know people who are very knowledgeable about bikes. Ask public members for a donation in exchange for checking over their bike. Your club can offer advice and local knowledge to the public and may even encourage people to join your club
3)tHold a spin-athon
Set yourself or a team a goal such as distance or time. This can be sponsored, or you can ask for a small charge for people to participate. You can contact your local gyms to see if you can use their facilities for this charitable event.
4)tSign up for Bike Oxford 2022
Bike Oxford is a charity event on the 3rd July and takes cyclists through the historic city of dreaming spires and beautiful countryside. There are three different routes, the 25km, 50km or 80km routes, to choose from. Ask friends and family to sponsor you and join in on Oxford’s cycling event of the year!
