The Physical Activity and Wellbeing project at Oxfordshire Mind offers support to those that want to become more active, as well as a variety of sport and physical activity sessions. The project is part of our campaign to give everyone the opportunity to improve their physical health. We can suggest something for everyone, regardless of your level of fitness or ability.
Keeping active is one of the five ways to wellbeing, and research shows that physical activity can help improve your mental wellbeing, as well as your physical health and fitness. You don’t have to go to the gym to get fit, there are plenty of ways you can get active at home. Try doing something you enjoy, such as walking, running, dancing, gardening or cycling! For ideas of how to get fit, and suggestions of where to start, please get in touch with us.

– Badminton in Oxford
– Football in Wallingford
We’re really pleased to have teamed up with Yoga Quota to offer people the opportunity to take part in FREE yoga sessions at their beautiful studio in Oxford city centre. Yoga Quota offer high-quality yoga sessions with trained teachers. You can read more about the work of Yoga Quota on their website. Oxfordshire Mind are also running a series of fitness and wellbeing workshops specifically for adults over 50 as part of their ‘Stay Active Keep Well’ project. These workshops are free and are designed to help those aged 50+ with long term health conditions and/or who are experiencing mental health difficulties to become more physically active. The wellbeing workshops that run alongside the fitness activity cover topics such as stress/anxiety, self-esteem and importantly self-care and its connection with physical activity. The fitness workshops are all set at beginner level and include activities such as Yoga, Zumba, Nordic walking and more! Details of the courses can be found here. We have also recently joined forces with Oxfordshire Kickboxing Club, who have very kindly offered discounted sessions to anyone using Oxfordshire Mind’s services. Oxfordshire Kickboxing Club recognise that kickboxing and exercise in general can be a fantastic way to improve wellbeing, and so would like to make their sessions more accessible to anyone who is struggling with their mental health. Their evening classes are suitable for all abilities, so you don’t need any previous experience. Kickboxing can be a great way to get fit, meet new people and learn new skills too.
