Free Short Courses and Workshops

At Oxfordshire Mind, we offer a variety of free Short Courses and Workshops designed to help you build practical skills and discover new ways to support your mental wellbeing. 

Our friendly and welcoming sessions are open to anyone aged 18 or over who lives in Oxfordshire. 


Short Courses

This course explores self-esteem, its influences, and practical techniques to boost confidence. Each week focuses on topics such as low self-esteem, challenging thoughts, core beliefs, and self-care. The sessions are interactive, discussion-based, and incorporate elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).

The Managing Strong Emotions course looks at why we experience emotions like sadness, fear, anger and shame, and how they affect us. It also introduces practical tools and techniques to help manage these feelings. The course is suitable for anyone who experiences strong emotions and finds them hard to contain.

How to Book

Before joining a Short Course, participants are required to have a short phone call with one of our Wellbeing Staff to talk through how best we can support you. These are known as Advice & Guidance Sessions.

You can also submit a Self-Referral Form, stating which course or workshop you’re interested in. 

If you believe you’ve had an Advice & Guidance session in the last 12 months, please give our Information Service a call or email us at the above contact details. 

Workshops can be booked directly using the links provided. They do not require an Advice & Guidance Session.

A recovery focused workshop built around the CHIME framework.

Learn how Connection, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment support mental health and personal growth. You’ll be guided through each element of the CHIME model and reflect on how they can shape your own wellbeing journey.
A supportive and uplifting session for anyone wanting to build resilience and self belief.

A workshop to help understand how different communication styles affect wellbeing, relationships, and recovery. As well as an opportunity to learn some techniques to develop your communication skills.

This workshop explores why we experience emotions and how they show up in our daily lives. You’ll learn how to recognise, name and understand what you’re feeling, and discover practical tools that help you respond with more clarity and confidence.

Our Managing Change workshop will look at the process of moving from a familiar state to a new one. This can become enjoyable when we frame it as an opportunity for growth, align it with what we value, and take small, confidence‑building steps that make the journey feel meaningful rather than daunting.

In the workshop we will cover several tools that when used may allow you to over come the fear of change and use the time to grow personally.

Grounding techniques are a way to help bring yourself back into the here and now after experiencing overwhelm. They act as a way to cool the fight/flight/freeze mode and reconnect you back into the present.

Grounding techniques might be useful during anxiety attacks, panic attacks, distressing emotions, unwanted memories and more – or
anything where we’re feeling our emotions intensely and might have spiralling thoughts.
