Oxfordshire Mind CEO to step down in 2023

Oxfordshire Mind is announcing that Dan Knowles, CEO, will be stepping down from his role in 2023.

After 6 years he has decided he needs a fresh challenge, and the Board has therefore embarked on a recruitment process to find our new CEO. Dan continues to be committed to the organisation and the role of CEO and will remain in place until his successor is appointed. The recruitment process is being managed by our HR team together with Harris Hill, and the closing date for applications is January 2023.

Dan Knowles, CEO, said:

“Working for Oxfordshire Mind has been a total joy, and I am proud of our achievements in this time. After 6 good years, I do feel it’s time for a fresh challenge for me personally, and that Oxfordshire Mind will benefit from having a new person take on the challenges of running our wonderful charity. I am grateful to the Board for their ongoing support and leadership and look forward to welcoming my successor in due course. I will of course in the meantime continue putting my full energy and efforts into ensuring Oxfordshire Mind continues to be managed well and meet the needs of our beneficiaries”

Nick Welch, Chair, said:

“In the last 6 years, Oxfordshire Mind has nearly tripled in scale, and in this time we have developed many new and pioneering services – including the Oxfordshire Safe Haven, new Primary Care teams, an innovative mental health and homelessness housing project, and more. Dan also served as the Chair of the Oxfordshire Mental Health Partnership for nearly two years, securing increased funding for this ground-breaking partnership and an independent review by the Centre for Mental Health and contract extension. In his time the OMHP also won the prestigious NHS Parliamentary Excellence in Mental Health Award.

The role of CEO at Oxfordshire Mind will be a challenging and satisfying one for Dan’s successor. The need for our work has never been greater and there are great opportunities for us to develop our work – by partnering with the NHS, Councils, and the 3rd sector; developing our increasing reach in Berkshire West; and meeting the needs of our wide range of beneficiaries.

We would like to thank Dan for his work over the last 6 years and his commitment to the role in this period of transition, and look forward to recruiting the next CEO in the months ahead.”
