Leo, and his 52 Mile Challenge

Meet Leo, the 11 year old fundraiser who is taking on the challenge to run 52 miles (83km) in 7 days, all in the name of better metal health.

Leo has already completed his first 16 miles and managed to raise an incredible £1,160 for Oxfordshire Mind! A massive thank you from all of us!

Read Leo’s story below:

Hi
My names Leo Cole and I play for Swindon Town academy U12s. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve seen the great ways people have come up with to raise money for Charities and have been thinking of something I could do to push myself and donate as much money as possible for a great cause. I like most football mad children am missing the game massively, even the 52 mile round trip I take 3/4 times a week from my home in Abingdon to Swindon to get to and from training and games. I have given myself a challenge to run 52 miles (83km) in 7 days which is the equivalent of travelling to The county ground in Swindon and back.

I would like to raise as [much] money as possible for what I think is a very important charity that is not mentioned enough and I believe with everything that’s going on in the world right now with COVID19 people will be struggling even more so with their mental health and by doing this challenge I can raise money and awareness for [an] amazing charity and hopefully help in more ways than one.

I want people to know it’s ok to have mental health issues and it’s ok to talk about it and get help as a man lady or even a child!! I have suffered with anxiety for the past 2 years and Have family and friends that suffer with mental health issues and wanted to help a charity that was close to my heart just as much as football😁
Thank you
Leo ⚽️
