65 year old Maureen Bobby runs the London Marathon!

Maureen Bobby, an Oxfordshire Mind Housing Worker, has completed the London Marathon at the age of 65.

“I completed the London Marathon today, it was an incredible experience, and I met some extremely lovely people, I felt blessed to have been part of it. I shook hands with The Duke of Cambridge and also took some lovely pictures of the royals. Just fabulous. It wasn’t easy, and there was a couple of times I thought I wasn’t going to make it, but the support of my family and the crowds got me round. I’ve never heard my name called out as much as today, I was told at the end that 70,000 people lined the streets to watch, (not verified), but I can certainly tell you the noise was just mind blowing. I have smashed my fundraising and there is still more to come.”

Maureen Bobby was also on BBC Radio Oxford through out the week of the marathon, and has received celebratory congratulations for staff across Oxfordshire Mind.

Dan Knowles, Oxfordshire Mind CEO, has praised Maureen and the lengths she has gone to for Oxfordshire Mind:

“We are all hugely impressed by Maureen’s effort. She’s an inspiration and a very special person!”

Maureen has successfully smashed her fundraising target and is already planning her next fundraising challenge for next year!

You can still sponsor Maureen here!
