Whether you want to pick up a skill, or develop an interest you already have, learning something new can really help to improve your mental wellbeing. That’s why we run a series of educational courses and workshops throughout the year.
Assertiveness and communication skills
This course/workshop is designed to improve individual communication skills & provide participants with the tools to promote good mental health.
During the course we will look at what it is to be assertive as well as exploring some practical skills & techniques which can help people develop their communication skills, increase their confidence and improve their wellbeing
We offer a variety of active courses combining physical activity and wellbeing. They are designed to enable people to attend from a beginner’s level.
Practical ways to wellbeing
This workshop introduces some positive, practical strategies for improving wellbeing. It is based on the 5 ways to Wellbeing and will consider how we can incorporate each of these into our daily lives.
This will help participants explore how they manage stresses of everyday life and offer a range of tools and strategies which can help in stress management.
Managing strong emotions
This course is for people who have difficulty with managing their emotions such as anger, grief, jealousy etc.
Exploring self esteem
This course is designed to give us the skills and tools we need to promote good mental health and to better manage our wellbeing. The course will explore what self-esteem is, how it is affected and will provide participants with the skills & techniques they need to boost their confidence and sense of self worth.
When and where?
All Oxfordshire Mind courses are open to anyone over the age of 16, are free of charge and run in the daytime, at evenings and weekends. We have courses planned for Abingdon, Banbury, Bicester, Oxford and Witney.
Please note that it is essential to be able to attend the first session of our courses. The first session is an initial opportunity for you to learn more about the course and to make sure that the course is right for you at this point in time. If you are unable to attend the initial session we will advise you to book to attend the course at another time.
How do I book?
If you are interested in any of our courses please first call the Information Line on 01865 247 788 to arrange an Options Session (available over the phone or in-person). An Options Session involves a short conversation about your wellbeing with one of our Wellbeing Workers and will include a short questionnaire.
During this, we will identify together which of our courses, groups or activities might be most useful for you at this time, or we can signpost you to alternative activities elsewhere in the county. We will also send through further details about any recommended Mind courses along with details of how to register for the appropriate course.
